Chelsea Manning Slams Trump's Transgender Ban in the Military

Chelsea Manning ripped the decision by President Donald Trump to ban transgender people from serving in the military.

In a Wednesday tweet, Manning wrote:

so, biggest baddest most $$ military on earth cries about a few trans people 😩 but funds the F-35? 😑 sounds like cowardice 😎💕🌈 #WeGotThis

Her comments follow Trump's announcement on Twitter:

After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow......

While serving in the Army, Manning was imprisoned for leaking classified information to WikiLeaks, The Hill noted.

Former President Barack Obama had commuted her sentence.

Manning had become a transgender rights advocate after disclosing in 2013 that she identified as a woman, The Hill said. She eventually received hormone therapy treatment while behind bars.
