New State Department documents show 29 previously unreleased email exchanges between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and top aide Huma Abedin containing classified information sent on an unsecured private email server.

Conservative foundation Judicial Watch released the messages Tuesday after obtaining them in response to a Freedom of Information Act filed in March 2015.

The emails had previously not been turned over to the State Department and were all from Abedin's account.

The email controversy dogged Clinton throughout the presidential campaign last year and, to some extent cost her the election. Clinton, the Democratic nominee, set up a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state and was later the subject of an FBI investigation regarding the origin and handling of classified emails on the server.

The FBI concluded Clinton was "extremely careless" in handling her emails but recommended no charges be filed against her.

Emails released Tuesday show classified information was sent through the clintonemail.com account, including correspondence between Abedin and top Clinton Foundation officials containing Clinton's detailed daily schedule.
