A reflective Hillary Clinton, 69, needed some time off to overcome a lasting sting of the election loss, but she has recently reviewed her campaign's shortcomings with her inner circle, has returned to the speaking circuit, and has become refocused and recharged, according to a report in The Hill.
"She's in a much better place than she was in two months ago," a source close to Clinton told The Hill. "I think she's very much forward-thinking and -looking than people think she is right now.
"I don't think she's obsessing about the past, but she's focused on a 'country-first' type thing."
"Country-first" may be a reference to her uptick in public speaking appearances and statements challenging the administration that kept her from the White House – not just a mere attempt to return her to the head of the Democratic party for 2020, but standing up for her base that continues to help challenge President Donald Trump and his agenda.
Author Edward Klein told Newsmax TV's "The Steve Malzberg Show" this week he is "absolutely sure" Clinton gearing up to run again for president in 2020 amid a bulking up of her presence nationally. The DNC's election of Tom Perez as the next chairman is a boost for Clinton's 2020 prospects, Klein also wrote this week for Newsmax.
Speaking at her alma mater this week, Clinton summarized what the aforementioned meeting of the minds concluded what she would change from her campaign: 'I'd win," she said, per The Hill.
That recent inner-circle meeting "was an attempt to dot all the I's and cross all the t's, but I don't think anyone learned all that much."
And it was painful rehashing of failure.
"It wasn't fun for the people who had to sit through it," another source told The Hill.
Clinton held a similar review after her primary loss to former President Barack Obama in 2008.
"She has tried her best to get a full account of what went wrong and where she could have done better," a longtime Clinton friend told The Hill.
