The Clinton Foundation refiled three years of tax returns this week but denied the New York state attorney ordered it to do so.

According to the Washington Examiner, the foundation — which has come under fire over corruption allegations — refiled for 2012-2014.

"The Clinton Foundation is properly registered to solicit funds under Article 7A, which requires organizations to register before they solicit funds in New York," Clinton Foundation general counsel Ricardo Castro told the Examiner.

The website reports that the Clinton Health Access Initiative and the Clinton Global Initiative, two arms of the foundation, refiled the tax returns. Last year, the Clinton Health Access Initiative refiled its 2010-2012 tax returns after media reports revealed the foundation accepted millions of dollars in donations from foreign entities while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state. Those donations were not initially disclosed to the IRS.

The charities tied to Clinton and Trump have been scrutinized for months. Trump's foundation was recently ordered by the New York attorney general to stop soliciting donations from within the state. That organization has also come under fire for suspect purchases like a portrait of Trump himself.
