Rebuking U.S. policy of separating parents from their children at the border to deter illegal immigration, former President Bill Clinton issued a Father's Day tweet to reunite children with their families to "reaffirm America's belief in & support for all parents who love their children."

Two hours earlier, Clinton's daughter Chelsea issued a similar rebuke of the policy, saying she "could not imagine being forcibly separated from my children as I sought sanctuary."

With immigration reform becoming a partisan battleground, the Trump administration has enacted a "zero tolerance policy," warning illegal immigrants seeking entry into the U.S. would subject their children to extended separation from their families.

Health and Human Services has set up tent cities on military bases to house those children.
