A man, identified as a producer for CNN says, in an undercover video, that President Donald Trump is "probably right" in claiming Russia investigations are witch hunts.

The video was posted online by "conservative sting activist James O'Keefe's Project Veritas website," according to the Washington Examiner.

It identifies a man in the video as CNN Supervising Producer John Bonifield. The Examiner notes Bonifield is a producer who covers medical issues.

"I just feel like they really don't have it, but they want to keep digging," the man says in apparent reference to the multiple investigations. "Like, we don't have any big giant proof. And so I think the president is probably right to say, like, 'Look, you are witch hunting me. Like you have no smoking gun, you have no real proof.'"

In the video, a Project Veritas associate talks with the man identified as Bonifield, who goes on to say CNN is covering the Russia out of desire to increase ratings, The Hollywood Reporter noted.

Asked by the Project Veritas associate why CNN regularly covers the Russia allegations, the man says: "Because it's ratings."

The news network said it will not be releasing a statement about the video, according to the Reporter.

The president's son, Donald Jr., promoted the video on his Twitter account:

A Project Veritas spokesman said the video was shot over multiple days in June, the Reporter says. The Project Veritas employee who shot the video had been introduced to Bonifield after expressing an interest in pursuing journalism as a career, according to the Reporter.
