Donald Trump holds a commanding 16-point lead over his Republican primary rivals in South Carolina,
a new CNN/ORC poll shows.
Here are the results, released Tuesday, of the survey of 1,006 Palmetto State voters, conducted between Wednesday and Monday: In other words, the poll was conducted after a highly raucous Saturday night debate in which Trump challenged the 9/11 legacy of the Bush administration. Many Republican observers said he had
gone too far.
- Trump: 38 percent.
- Ted Cruz, 22 percent.
- Marco Rubio, 14 percent.
- Jeb Bush, 10 percent.
- Ben Carson, 6 percent.
- John Kasich, 4 percent.
The survey has a margin of error of 3 percent.
South Carolina holds its Republican primary on Saturday.
