CNN Chief White House Correspondent Jim Acosta's press credentials were yanked "until further notice" after his testy back-and-forth with President Donald Trump on Wednesday afternoon, Fox News reports.
"I've just been denied entrance to the WH," Acosta tweeted Wednesday night. "Secret Service just informed me I cannot enter the WH grounds for my 8 p.m. hit."
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed Acosta's tweet in a statement, justifying the move by alleging Acosta became physical with an intern during his exchange with the president.
Trump and Acosta sparred after disagreeing on immigration and lambasting the media network's ratings.
"You are a rude, terrible person," Trump told him at one point. "You should not be working for CNN. Go ahead. You are a very rude person. The way that you treat Sarah Huckabee Sanders is horrible. The way that you treat other people is horrible. You should not treat people that way."
Trump also defended a campaign ad showing migrants climbing over walls, telling Acosta, "they were not actors. It's true. Do you think that they were actors?"
"They are hundreds of miles away," Acosta told Trump. "That is not an invasion."
"Honestly, I think that you should let me run the country," Trump told him. "You run CNN. And if you did it well, your ratings will be much higher."
The White House Correspondents' Association issued a statement Wednesday night calling on Acosta's credentials to be reinstated, but Sanders replied on Twitter that her office stands by the desision. She included video of the exchange.
