An anguished Cuba Gooding Jr. says he wept at news of the slaying of one of the five Dallas officers ambushed at an anti-police brutality rally last week — having met the victim last February.
The actor's heartfelt response was recorded when a video-photographer asked the actor if he had anything to say to the family of slain Officer Patrick Zamarripa, a five-year veteran and father of a 2-year-old girl who was
among the victims of Micah Johnson's shooting rampage.
"I cried today when I heard that," Gooding Jr. said. "I cried, that’s all I’m saying."
The emotional interview was
posted by TMZ.com.
Gooding Jr. met and posed for a picture with Zamarripa, who served three tours in Iraq with the Navy, and his partner in February.
Zamarripa proudly posted the encounter on his Twitter feed at the time.
