A conservative commentator charged Wednesday he’s being blocked from posting on Twitter the link to a group opposed to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.
Dan Backer, who has written for the Federalist, Fox News, the Daily Caller and the Washington Examiner — and who says he’s the founder and treasurer of the Stop the AOC PAC — suspects a political motive.
Backer said he maintains the Twitter account, Stop the AOC, and can tweet out its Facebook counterpart, but that he ran into a Twitter wall when he tried to tweet out the link to his personal anti-AOC account.
“It was weird,” he said. “The tweet went through without the URL. With it, [Twitter] wouldn’t let us do it.”
A source told Newsmax the URL is “not banned” and “can be tweeted.”
But Backer insisted the social media platform “is expressly blocking the URL of our organization, the only grassroots organization opposing AOC.”
In a statement, a Twitter spokesperson said “we don't comment on individual accounts for privacy and security reasons.”
A Newsmax editor received the same error message when attempting to tweet the URL from a private account early Wednesday evening, but the URL would tweet later Wednesday.
