Outgoing Rep. Dave Brat, R-Va., who lost his re-election bid in November to Democrat Abigail Spanberger, was named as the dean of Liberty University's School of Business on Wednesday, according to The Hill.
"Dave's experience in the private business sector, in higher education, and most recently as a U.S. Congressman, offer a unique blend of applied experience that brings additional value and depth to our business faculty," Liberty interim Provost Scott Hicks said in a statement.
Before being elected to Congress, Brat taught and was the chairman of the economics and business department at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia, according to The Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Brat lost his re-election bid despite being endorsed by President Donald Trump, according to The Hill.
In 2014, Brat became a representative in the House after winning a stunning upset victory over then-Majority Leader Eric Cantor in the Republican primary.
