Amazon and
eBay are coming under fire for banning sales of any Confederate flag items even as they continue to hawk Nazi, communist USSR and Chairman Mao memorabilia.
National Review writer David French reports a search of eBay finds hammer and sickle
necklaces, T-shirts and, on eBay,
flag displays for sale, while Amazon's offerings include a
Chairman Mao piggybank.
"I decided to do a few simple searches for their views on some of the 20th Century’s deadliest regimes — regimes responsible for race- and class-based genocides that claimed the lives of up to 100 million innocent men, women, and children," French writes. "It turns out that these retailers are happy for you to remember, enjoy, and sometimes proudly display emblems of deadly hate."
Breitbart News, meanwhile, took a tally on Amazon of Nazi paraphernalia, and findings included SS flags, a Nazi symbol ring, and several styles and colors of a #Hitler coffee mug.
"Amazon has yet to announce if and when it plans on banning these and several other Nazi-related items depicting symbols associated with the slaughter of 6,000,000 Jews," the conservative news website reports.
The controversy comes in the wake of last week's race-hate slayings of nine people in an historic black church in Charleston, S.C., that has prompted a widespread call for banning the display — and even the manufacture — of Confederate flags.
