Friends of former Gov. David Paterson, D-N.Y., are urging him to return to politics, he told N.Y. Post's Page Six.
Blackstone Group's Tony James and realtor Douglas Durst invited Paterson to dinner to urge him to run for mayor, but suggested he first consider running for public advocate, according to the report.
"Now I'll be suspicious of every dinner I'm invited to," Paterson told Page Six.
Paterson admitted "I do kind of miss politics," although he makes a better income in the private sector as a banker.
"Someone said, 'Politics is in my blood,' and I said, 'I got a transfusion,'" Paterson told Page Six.
Current Mayor Bill de Blasio cannot seek re-election in 2021 due to term limits, so Paterson still has time to consider entertaining his friends' overtures.
"I'll think it over and talk to them again," Paterson told Page Six.
