The approval rating for Democrats in Congress has hit a 20-year low, according to a
new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
The poll found 67 percent of those surveyed don't like the job Democrats in Congress are doing, while only 30 percent approve. That poll comes just after
another Post-ABC poll showing that the Democratic Party in general is suffering from a 30-year low in approval.
While Republicans in Congress also remain unpopular, the gap between their disapproval numbers and that of Democrats has narrowed. Seventy-two percent disapprove of how congressional Republicans are doing their jobs, while only 25 percent approve.
According to the poll, Democrats are losing the approval of black voters, who disapprove of congressional Democrats by 47 percent.
Republicans have suffered in the past from lack of support from their base. Now, the Democratic base seems to be doing the same.
Democratic voters like their own party in Congress 56-42. Republican voters approve of their team 55-38.
President Barack Obama has his own troubles, suffering record-low approval numbers.
A Washington Post-ABC poll earlier this month showed Obama at 40 percent approval.
