Rep. Devin Nunes Tuesday dismissed a report claiming special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating a meeting he attended with former national security adviser Michael Flynn and foreign officials as "another fake story."

"It’s always another day, they do another fake news story," the California Republican told Fox News' "Fox & Friends."

"I don't even know what they're talking about."

Nunes further commented that as the former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, it would have been his job to meet with foreign officials.

The Daily Beast reported Monday that the FBI is investigating a meeting Nunes and Flynn had with foreign officials on Jan. 18, 2017, at the Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C., just two days before the president's inauguration, to determine if any foreign money had been spent for the inauguration or pro-Trump PACs.

Nunes was on Trump's transition team, and he told Fox that during inauguration week, he attended several events.

"The fact that I’m holding meetings with ambassadors -- you can have at it, because I do it every day," Nunes said.

Kilmeade noted that according to the report, prosecutors aren't looking at the meeting in and of itself, but if foreign donors illegally contributed to the inaugural fund.

"I don't put anything into this," Nunes said, noting that he worked on national security issues on the transition team and did not serve on the inaugural committee.

"If they want to come talk, we're available."

He also commented on the news that the FBI had opened an inquiry on whether Trump was secretly working for Russia, saying that it is "totally ridiculous."
