Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump Thursday weighed in on rival Ben Carson's story about trying to stab a close relative when he was 14 because of his childhood anger.
Trump said on Twitter:
CNN reported Thursday that it had found eight of Carson's childhood friends, all of whom said they did not know of him to have the anger issues that he has described.
One said he had a vague memory of
the story of the attempted stabbing, but thought that it was just a story.
Carson attacked the CNN report, telling Megyn Kelly on Fox News: "Those claims are absolutely true. This is simply an attempt to smear and to deflect the argument to something else."
The retired pediatric neurosurgeon told Kelly that he had talked to the relative, and that the individual did not want to be identified.
