President Donald Trump was left frustrated this week that a Homeland Security spending bill he is poised to sign is a win for Democrats, a new report claims.

According to CNN, Trump told some of his allies this week that he feels Republicans were outplayed by Democrats on a bipartisan committee of senators and members of the House that was assembled in recent weeks.

Trump asked for $5.7 billion to build a border barrier between the United States and Mexico, but the aforementioned bill — which must be passed and signed by the president before a Friday night deadline — includes just $1.375 billion for 55 new miles of fencing.

Trump plans to sign the bill and will then declare a national emergency to appropriate more federal funds to build more barrier.

Republicans have tried to sell the 1,159-page bill to Trump by arguing that it's a win for the GOP because House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had initially promised not to provide any money for a wall.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders released a statement Thursday afternoon that confirmed Trump will sign the bill. She framed it as a victory.

"The president is once again delivering on his promise to build the wall, protect the border, and secure our great country," she said.
