Donald Trump Jr. hit out at House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., for pushing a narrative that Trump Jr. spoke to his father on the phone before meeting with a Russian lawyer who had connections to the Kremlin.
The New York Times reported on Thursday that evidence obtained by Senate investigators shows that Trump Jr. did not call his father, but spoke instead with two longtime family friends: Nascar head Brian France and investor Howard Lorber, prior to his meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya at Trump Tower.
“Has anyone heard from Adam Schiff?” Trump Jr. tweeted Thursday night. “I imagine he’s busy leaking other confidential info from the House Intelligence Committee to change the subject?!?”
“Just out: The big deal, very mysterious Don jr telephone calls, after the innocent Trump Tower meeting, that the media & Dems said were made to his father (me), were just conclusively found NOT to be made to me,” the president tweeted on Thursday. “They were made to friends & business associates of Don. Really sad!”
