The FBI's specialized division for finding leakers has been turned loose to hunt the person who leaked massive amounts of CIA documents to WikiLeaks, Fox News reported.
WikiLeaks released thousands of pages of documents Tuesday, detailing the methods the Central Intelligence Agency uses in its spy efforts. They included the ability to hack into iPhones, Android devices, Samsung smart TVs, and other devices.
A release of classified information in 2010 to WikiLeaks by an Army private, then known as Bradley Manning and now known as Chelsea Manning, prompted President Barack Obama to establish the National Insider Threat Task Force which is currently trying to find who gave the latest information to the anti-secrecy group.
Reuters reported Wednesday the newest leaker likely was a contractor rather than a CIA employee.
That theory echoes the actions in 2013 of Edward Snowden, who obtained documents he handed over to WikiLeaks from the National Security Agency. Snowden had access to the documents as an employee of NSA contactor Booz Allen Hamilton.
