Forty-three percent of Americans now approve of the way President Donald Trump is handling his job, while 54% disapprove, a new Gallup poll reveals.

His approval numbers are an increase from a Gallup poll in August. Those results showed 39% approving and 57% disapproving of his job performance.

Here's how the results of the new poll, released on Thursday, break down:

  • 91% of Republicans approve of Trump’s handling of his job, compared to just 5% of Democrats. The gap between the two parties ties the highest Gallup has recorded in a single survey.
  • 8% of Republicans disapprove of Trump’s job performance, while 92% of Democrats disapprove.
  • 38% of independents approve of the presidents’ handling of his job, compared to 56% who disapprove.

The poll, conducted Sept. 3-15, sampled 1,525 adults.  It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
