Ex-Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos repeatedly stood in for the operation at forums and meetings — contrary to his portrayal by the administration as "low level," NBC News reported.

Citing public records, the outlet reported Papadopoulos — who pleaded guilty earlier to charges of lying to FBI agents about his ties to Russian officials — took part in various public engagements on behalf of the campaign dating back to the Republican National Convention in July of 2016.

Among the appearances was as a panelist at an American Jewish Committee forum, NBC News reported. He also was interviewed by the Russia Interfax Agency as a Trump representative six weeks before Election Day — and met with Israeli officials during President Donald Trump's inauguration.

In addition, unsealed court documents reported by The New York Times revealed Papadopoulos had pitched a meeting between the campaign and Russian officials.

Trump said Friday he doesn’t remember much about the former adviser, The Hill reported.
