Glenn Beck declared Monday he was wrong to support Sen. Ted Cruz in the GOP primaries and think the Texas Republican "can actually be George Washington."

A woeful Beck came to the conclusion on his national radio program after grilling Cruz for about 18 minutes about his decision last Friday to endorse GOP nominee Donald Trump.

Following the interview, Beck lamented his support.

"For the very first time I heard Ted Cruz calculate," Beck said. "And when that happened, the whole thing fell apart for me. It’s my fault for believing men can actually be George Washington. It's my fault."

He even wondered if he should have endorsed Florida Sen. Marco Rubio during the GOP primaries instead.

"I should have said, 'You know who can win, you know who could beat Hillary Clinton? Marco Rubio,'" he said. "'He's a different kind of politician, he's a young politician, he's a Hispanic, he can win. Let's go for it.'"

"The interview pissed me off," Beck went onto to say. "That was so calculated that it was stunning to me. I think I have to apologize and say, maybe, perhaps, those of you who said Ted Cruz is calculating and a smarmy politician, I think I may have to slightly agree with you and apologize for saying, 'No, he wasn't.'"

During the earlier Cruz interview, the Texas senator repeatedly defended his decision to endorse Trump as "a binary choice."

"I wish it were not a binary choice," Cruz said. "As you know, I tried very very hard, as did you, to prevent it from being a binary choice between Hillary and Donald Trump."
