Sales of firearms have dramatically increased in Charlotte after the North Carolina city was rocked by several nights of racial violence following the fatal police shooting of an African American man, the Washington Examiner reports.

Justin Anderson, director of marketing for Hyatt Guns, said buyers were lined up at his store Thursday morning to buy self-defense shotguns and 12 gauge buckshot.

"People that were on the fence about buying a gun prior to last night are now making that purchase," Anderson told The Examiner.

Protesters gathered on Charlotte's streets for a third night Thursday, though demonstrations were peaceful.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, protesters rampaged through the streets, damaging property and causing injuries that led to one death.

The marauders have been protesting the fatal shooting of Keith Lamar Scott, 43, by a Charlotte police officer in an apartment complex.
