Fox News anchor Heather Nauert is in talks to be a spokeswoman for the State Department, Politico reported Thursday night.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has yet to sign off on the appointment, the news outlet reported.

The "Fox & Friends" host has been at Fox News since 1998, except for a two-year stint at ABC. President Donald Trump gave a shout-out Thursday to the Fox morning show, calling it "the most honest" program in that time slot, Politico reported.

Nauert is the latest personality from Fox to gravitate to the Trump administration. Former analyst Monica Crowley left Fox News in December to serve as Trump's senior director of strategic communications, but later withdrew amid plagiarism accusations.
