Many of the emails deleted from Hillary Clinton's email server were in fact work-related, a point her campaign spokesman confirmed Tuesday.

"She has been answering questions about this for over a year," Brian Fallon told MSNBC. "Of course, it's an issue that she takes responsibility for. She has said that she apologizes for it. Admits it was a mistake. And has said she would do it differently.

"In terms of these additional e-mails, if any of them turn out to be work-related, I suspect there is a mix of personal nature emails in there. But to the extent there are ones that are work-related, we want those to be released too."

Clinton has come under closer scrutiny this week after emails were released that show close ties between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department when she served as secretary of state from 2009-2013.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump called for the foundation to be shut down because of the corruption claims.
