The mother of one of the four Americans killed in an attack on a diplomatic outpost in Benghazi in 2012 angrily condemned Hillary Clinton for "lying" in her previous congressional testimony about the bloodshed.
In an interview on
"CNN Newsroom" the day before Clinton's expected appearance before the House Select Committee on Benghazi, Patricia Smith, mother of Sean Smith, exploded in anger after viewing a clip of Clinton's 2013 testimony.
The January 2013 clip shows Clinton asking members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee lawmakers what difference it made whether it was "a protest" or "some guys… who decide they go kill some Americans… it's our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from happening again."
An outraged Smith exploded, "She's lying! She's absolutely lying! She told me something entirely different" at a ceremony for her son.
"She said it was because of the video," she said, referring to
initial Obama administration statements that a video ridiculing the prophet Mohammed had sparked the attack.
"I saw on TV the bloody fingerprints on the walls over there. I asked specifically, 'Are those my son's fingerprints crawling down the walls?'… Somebody's got to tell me...."
Smith said although Clinton promised to "get back to" her following her son's ceremony, she hasn't.
"She has not called me. She has not contacted me. She has not given me any information,"she said, "except to tell me that I am not a member of the immediate family and I do not need to know."
At the upcoming House Select Committee hearing, Smith said she needed Clinton "to make some answers."
