It's just "Hillary Clinton" now.
The New York Times announced Monday it will drop Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton's maiden name from its references.
Clinton had been known simply as Hillary Rodham even after her marriage to former President Bill Clinton, but added Clinton after her husband's first race for Arkansas governor ended in a loss.
"I learned the hard way that some voters in Arkansas were seriously offended by the fact that I kept my maiden name," Clinton wrote of the experience.
From then on she was known as Hillary Rodham Clinton in news stories when she served as first lady, U.S. senator from New York and as President Barack Obama's first secretary of state.
Other news organizations, including The Associated Press, The Washington Post and Newsmax already were referring to the candidate simply as "Hillary Clinton."
On Monday, the campaign said that is now her preference, and she has used it when signing official documents to qualify for primary races.
