A second member of House Democrat leadership in the previous Congress was evicted from a U.S. Capitol hideaway office, Punchbowl News reported.
Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., who served as majority leader until Republicans took control in January, was told to vacate his hideaway office by Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., the interim speaker.
"NEWS — HOUSE REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP has kicked @RepStenyHoyer out of his Capitol hideaway," Punchbowl News’ Jake Sherman posted on social media platform X on Wednesday.
"Republicans — McCarthy — are taking revenge for Democrats voting with @mattgaetz to boot @SpeakerMcCarthy from the speakership. Expect more of this, GOP sources tell us."
It was reported Tuesday night that McHenry had ordered former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., to vacate her Capitol hideaway office.
Democrats and eight conservative Republicans voted to remove Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., from the speakership on Tuesday. The vote came after Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., filed a "motion to vacate."
