Americans should tell President Barack Obama to "move on" and stop holding a grudge against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen told Fox News.
Obama has not yet congratulated Netanyahu on
his Likud Party's victory on Tuesday, which is expected to secure him another four years as prime minister. Obama is at odds with Netanyahu over nuclear talks with Iran, and Obama didn't meet with the prime minister when he addressed Congress on the issue earlier this month.
Obama operatives, including his 2008 field director Jeremy Bird, took part in the V-15 effort to defeat Netanyahu.
"Even though this administration interfered with that election, we've got the winner now," Ros-Lehtinen said Wednesday on Fox News Channel's
"On the Record with Greta Van Susteren"
"And even while Netanyahu's trying to form the coalition, which is difficult, still President Obama will not let you up. He is saying he used a terrible rhetoric," Ros-Lehtinen said. "The election is over. Let's move on. But, no, they are really sticking it to Netanyahu still and to this day. "
The Florida Republican said Netanyahu is within his right to take action to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power, and that Congress will stand with him even if Obama doesn't.
"We stand with our allies, and we know an adversary when we see one," Ros-Lehtinen said. "And what we see in Israel is an ally and not an enemy."
