President Donald Trump is considering picking a former United States Border Patrol chief who served during the Obama administration to lead Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to a new report.
Bloomberg reported Tuesday that the White House might choose Mark Morgan to lead the agency tasked with enforcing America's immigration laws, including deportation.
Morgan worked in his former post during the final two months of President Barack Obama's presidency. He was removed from the job after Trump took office, Bloomberg noted.
Currently, there is not a permanent head of ICE. Ronald Vitiello had been serving in an interim role and he was nominated to permanently fill the job, but Trump earlier this month withdrew the nomination. Vitiello then left the agency.
The Trump administration is dealing with an immigration crisis at America's southern border as thousands of Central American migrants make their way to the border.
