Rep. Jason Chaffetz: Clinton 'Clearly' Lied Under Oath on Emails

Hillary Clinton was "clearly" lying under oath when she made her statements to a House committee investigating her use of a private email server while secretary of state, Rep. Jason Chaffetz said Monday, while denying the ongoing investigation is politically motivated because of the presidential election.

"We have asked the Department of Justice to dive into this," the Utah Republican, who chairs the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, told Fox News' "America's Newsroom" host Bill Hemmer.

"As we delve into the facts, we'll see where the facts take us. We'll have a series of hearings on this regardless of the presidential election. I shouldn't go any faster and I shouldn't go any slower because we have a presidential election."

There is "a lot of evidence already that says yes she did lie under oath," Chaffetz continued. "My concern with Hillary is she continues to look into the camera, even when she raises her right hand and swears to tell the truth and nothing but the truth and lies."

The Democratic presidential nominee told Congress she did not send or receive emails on her personal server that were marked classified and that all government-related emails had been turned over to the State Department.

FBI Director James Comey said in a public statement earlier this summer that there were some classified documents, and an FBI brief about an interrogation revealed that there had been BlackBerry devices smashed with a hammer and laptops had been destroyed.

A hearing is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday in Chaffetz' committee, and he said Monday he expects all five of those who have been subpoenaed to show up and testify.

"Two of them have been granted immunity by the FBI, so I expect them to sing like songbirds," said Chaffetz. "I don't know that they will, but they should. They have gotten immunity. Why not tell the truth?

"This is one of the largest breaches in the history of the State Department. We have tens of thousands of record still in question. Some of them are so sensitive in their nature, so classified people could die if adversaries were to read this."

Federal records can't be destroyed, he continued, denying contentions that he picked the timeline to harm Clinton's campaign.
