Former Minnesota governor and one-time professional wrestler Jesse Ventura is getting his own TV show on Russian state television, the Star Tribune reported.
The program called "The World According to Jesse" will air this month on RT America, the Washington arm of the international network RT, which was formerly known as Russia Today, according to the Tribune.
RT is funded by the Russian government.
"I am working for the enemy of mainstream media now," Ventura said. "I have total artistic control and I can talk about anything I want. We're more interested in talking about our country. I didn't join RT to report on Russia."
The network has had its share of criticism.
The Columbia Journalism Review once noted: "Russia Today was conceived as a soft-power tool to improve Russia's image abroad, to counter the anti-Russian bias the Kremlin saw in the Western media.
"Since its founding in 2005, however, the broadcast outlet has become better known as an extension of former President Vladimir Putin's confrontational foreign policy. "
The Washington Post said RT initially focused on reporting events in Russia and combating negative news about the country, but has shifted to presenting an alternative view of international events.
A Larry King interview with Donald Trump during the 2016 election was aired on RT America, according to the Post.
