A political action committee founded by Jim Webb, who dropped out of the Democratic presidential race on Tuesday, has paid his wife and daughter tens of thousands of dollars over the years, the New York Post reports.

Webb's daughter, Amy Webb Hogan, and his wife, Hong Le Webb, were paid $68,701 between 2013 and 2015 from Webb's Born Fighting PAC, the Post reported. That was out of $108,587 total spent during that time.

According to records, Amy was paid for "consulting," and his wife for "website services." Amy has also been paid more than $23,000 for "administrative consulting" by her father's campaign. Hong Le Webb is a corporate securities lawyer.

"It sends the message that these leadership PACs are slush funds," Larry Noble of the Campaign Legal Center told the Post. He said payments to Amy Web Hogan from both funds could cause legal issues for Webb.

There is still $317,000 in his campaign account and $73,800 in the Born Fighting PAC.

"The payments were well within the law, were scrutinized regularly by outside legal counsel, and were much lower than usual amounts of compensation for such services," Webb campaign spokesman Craig Crawford told the Post.
