Florida Sen. Marco Rubio picked up the backing of GOP megadonor Joe Craft on Tuesday,
Politico reports.
Craft and his fiancé, Kelly Knight, are the latest in a series of big donors getting behind Rubio's presidential campaign as he is seen as the most electable choice among the establishment wing of the party.
Craft made his billions in the coal business in Kentucky, and was a top contributor in the 2012 race, giving more than $3 million to American Crossroads, and $1 million to pro-Mitt Romney super PAC Restore Our Future, Politico noted.
Rubio also is picking up endorsements from establishment Republicans, including New York
Rep. Peter King earlier Tuesday. He also has gathered the endorsements of former Kansas Sen. Bob Dole, Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch and Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson in the past 24 hours. South Carolina's Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen. Tim Scott and Rep. Trey Gowdy all endorsed him ahead of that state's primary on Saturday.
