Secretary of State John Kerry is speaking out against the Russian election hacking saying it had a "profound impact" on the U.S. political process.
In an interview with Andrea Mitchell on NBC News, the outgoing secretary said, "It invaded the space of our election."
"The releasing on a regular basis of one party's stolen emails had an impact. I think that all the cyber attacks that have taken place, particularly the Russian one, had a profound impact on our system, on our political process.
"And it's not just happening here. It's happening in Europe and other parts of the world. And I think other countries are deeply concerned."
The Washington Post reported President Barack Obama is close to announcing a series of measures to punish Russia for its interference in the presidential election.
The newspaper says those measures could include economic sanctions and diplomatic censure.
