President Donald Trump is well-known for his tweeting, and now Wikileaks publisher Julian Assange is tweeting him back.

Assange responded Monday to a tweet by the president about finding the leakers who he claims gathered surveillance information about the inner workings of his campaign and administration, Mashable reported.

The story called Assange's response ironic.

"The irony, of course, is that Assange seems to be painting Trump as the victim of the grand surveillance conspiracy that Trump has been pedaling when, in reality, WikiLeaks actually helped compromise the U.S. presidential election by publishing the hacked DNC emails," Mashable wrote.

Next, Assange commented on a Trump tweet about former DNC Chairman Donna Brazile leaking questions to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton before debates during the 2016 presidential election.

Mashable called Assange's attempt to get the president's attention "a bit futile," since he usually gets thousands of replies to his tweets.
