House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff should "resign today" after insisting over the past two years that President Donald Trump would be impeached or indicted as a result of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway said Monday.

"You have Adam Schiff, talk about an oxymoron, this man heads the Intelligence Committee in the House," Conway told Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "He ought to resign today. He has been on every TV show 50 times a day for practically the last two years, promising Americans that the president would be impeached or indicted."

Schiff said Sunday he trusts Mueller's determination there had been no evidence of collusion between Trump's 2016 campaign and Russia, but he thinks the full report and its underlying evidence should be made public.

Conway, who served as Trump's campaign manager toward the end of the 2016 race, said that people who spent the past two years "haranguing" and trying to embarrass those connected to the campaign owe Americans an apology.

"Those who spent 22 months, wasting their time, 2½ years since he was elected, are running out of time for 2020," Conway said. "They made Donald Trump look like the victim here . . . the head of the Democratic National Committee, Tom Perez, let me quote him, he said repeatedly there is a 'mountain of evidence of collusion between the campaign and the Russians.' This is a man whose own DNC along with Hillary Clinton's campaign first funded the phony dossier that got us to where we are."
