Kellyanne: Trump, Ukraine President Will Still Meet

President Donald Trump's plans for a sit-down meeting with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky Wednesday during this week's United Nations General Assembly are still on, presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway confirmed Tuesday.

She also told Fox News' "Fox and Friends" that the allegations being made against Trump have been created by the "same people who invented the Russian hoax and wasted tens of millions of dollars over the last two years to come up with absolutely nothing."

The meeting is taking place in New York, where world leaders are gathered for this week's U.N. General assembly, and as controversy continues to grow over allegations that on July 25, Trump had pushed the then-newly elected leader Zelensky to investigate the business activities of Democratic candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

Even with special counsel Robert Mueller's report, Democrats could find nothing they could use in a Trump indictment or impeachment, Conway said Tuesday, and "now I have seen people on TV say things they don't possibly know could be true."

Trump had called Zelensky in order to offer his congratulations on winning the election and to talk about whether he'd work on his election promises about anticorruption, Conway added.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration and Republicans are accusing Biden, while he served as vice president, of threatening to block loan guarantees unless Ukraine's government fired former prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was involved in an investigation into Hunter Biden's activities.

A year after Biden left office, he was "bragging" to the Council on Foreign Relations about Shokin's removal, said Conway, before the show played a video of Biden's remarks.

"He is bragging and they are laughing at the vice president," said Conway. "The media sees another Hillary Clinton in the making. They are trying to figure out a way to prop him up."
