The North Korean defector made famous during President Donald Trump's State of the Union speech last month blasted the attempts at diplomacy by the North Korean government in a new interview.

Ji Seong Ho told The Daily Caller that South Koreans are not fans of Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, despite the media's fawning over her.

"Yo Jong's grandfather, Kim Il Sung, is a war criminal, and her father, Kim Jong Il, killed three million people by starvation," Ji said. "Kim Jong Un is responsible for human rights violations and assassination of his own half-brother.

"The Kim family is taking hostage of the North Korean people and threatening the world with its nuclear weapons. Therefore, South Korean people hate Kim Yo Jong and her visit."

Ji added, "I personally think she should be mindful of her place, stop looking down on other people arrogantly, and feel guilty."

Ji attended the State of the Union as one of Trump's guests. The president recognized him during the speech, briefly telling his story about being badly injured as a teenager in North Korea and later defecting to China before settling in South Korea.

Ji founded a human rights organization in 2011 that brings awareness to North Korea's mistreatment of its people. He joined Vice President Mike Pence at the Pyeongchang Olympics over the weekend, where Kim Jong Un was in attendance to meet with South Korean officials and watch some of the events.
