President Donald Trump is “using sports to divide” America, NBA star LeBron James said during an appearance on CNN Monday.
"What I've noticed over the past few months," James told CNN's Don Lemon during a sit-down interview. "(Is) he's kinda used sports to kinda divide us, and that's something that I can't relate to because I know that sport was the first time I ever was around someone white and I got an opportunity to see them and learn about them and they got the opportunity to learn about me and we became very good friends.
“Sports has never been something to divide people, it’s been something to bring people together,” he added.
The pair were discussing athletics when James delved into politics.
The newest member of the Los Angeles Lakers has criticized the president before, saying Trump’s travel ban on refugees and immigrants from seven majority Muslim countries, “does not represent what the United States is about.”
