Facebook took down a video in which Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan compared Jewish people to "termites."
One day after Farrakhan also posted the clip to his Twitter account, Facebook announced its decision to remove it from its platform.
"The video was taken down because it violates our hate speech policies," a representative from Facebook told TheWrap.
Farrakhan said in the video, "So when they talk about Farrakhan, call me a hater, you know what they do. Call me an anti-Semite. Stop it. I'm anti-termite."
The Facebook representative informed TheWrap that Farrakhan's comments were "Tier 1 hate speech," according to its policy.
Twitter has not taken down the tweet, nor has it suspended Farrakhan's account. The social media network told BuzzFeed News on Wednesday the tweet did not violate its "dehumanizing speech" policy because it has not yet been implemented.
