Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is getting off the sideline in the contest for his Senate seat, and is expected to announce this week that he's running for re-election, CNN reports.
"The Florida senator is telling top supporters he has changed his mind — and will run for re-election to the Senate," CNN's John King reports, citing unnamed sources involved in the negotiations.
"This change of heart will be a boost to Republican hopes of holding their Senate majority after a tough couple of weeks."
Rubio insisted after ending his presidential campaign that he was leaving Washington, but GOP leaders have been encouraging him to reconsider to help protect the GOP majority in the upper chamber.
