New York City Mayor Eric Adams admitted Wednesday that there is "no more room" to house asylum seekers in his city as Republican governors continue to send over thousands.

Talking to Politico at the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington, D.C., Adams further appeared to pressure the Biden administration to immediately address the ongoing crisis at the southern border.

"We're at that point," Adams said of the Big Apple's inability to care for new migrants. "At the same time, we're going to continue to do our moral and legal obligation. Whoever comes to the city — you're not seeing individuals sleeping on the streets with families — because we're continuing to pivot and shift as needed."

However, "the White House must ensure the immediate needs, that cities that are impacted receive the support they deserve," he added.

Adams specifically wants the federal government to fix a $2 billion hole in New York City's budget for migrant housing services, as well as relax work requirements for asylum seekers to obtain jobs.

But with Biden largely ignoring his requests, the mayor has since turned attention to Gov. Kathy Hochul for emergency aid. However, New York's Democratic governor has also largely ignored Adams thus far.

Hochul made no mention of the migrant crisis during her 50-minute State of the State speech on Tuesday, later telling reporters that the omission was due to the issue being unimportant outside New York City.

"I was focusing on my key signature areas that have broad, statewide interest — housing, mental health challenges, child care, and the minimum wage," the governor said Wednesday.
