It is a "sad commentary" that President Barack Obama has been "so ineffective" on foreign policy, said Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee who lost to Obama in 2012.
"I find it troubling and revealing," Romney told radio host Hugh Hewitt on Tuesday. "The world around us is going to hell, and the president takes no responsibility."
Hewitt had noted Obama's quip to Romney during one of their debates in which Obama made fun of Romney's concerns about Russia.
"The '80s are calling; they want their foreign policy back," Obama said at the time.
Now, the Russian "reset" seems like more a joke to conservatives, coupled with what they see as the president's inaction against Islamic State (ISIS) terrorism.
"He and Hillary Clinton don't admit to making any mistakes, and they tell us everything’s under control," Romney said. "And frankly they're responsible for much of the mess we're seeing in the world."
