8 Shot at MLK Event in Miami

Eight people were shot after a parade in Miami honoring the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

According to The Miami Herald, the victims ranged in age from 11 to 30. All but one of the injuries were minor, police reported. A 20-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition.

More people were injured during the stampede to leave the area.

Gunshots rang out about two hours after the event in park where the event had taken place. Georgia Democratic Congressman John Lewis had participated in the event.

Two people were taken into custody and two guns were recovered, the Herald reported, and police were unclear whether there are more suspects.
