Monica Lewinsky, the notorious White House intern whose affair with President Bill Clinton led to his impeachment, said the Florida judge in former President Donald Trump's classified documents case should be impeached.

"It is insane it hasn't moved forward to trial," Lewinsky posted Tuesday on X. "I hope Judge [Aileen] Cannon is impeached. The danger and damage done by this judge is mind numbing."

Trump faces 40 felony counts regarding his handling of documents, some deemed classified, at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges and has vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

Many legal experts have regarded the case as the most straightforward of the four prosecutions against Trump. But Cannon has been slow to rule on numerous motions and has proved willing to entertain defense requests that prosecutors claimed are meritless.

"If the documents had been declassified [which they weren't] then all Trump had to do was Xerox them and return originals that were being asked for and explain they were declassified," Lewinsky wrote. "If it had been an honest [ahem] mistake to take them… just return them – like every other president who was found to have classified materials in their private possession."

Since her affair with Clinton, Lewinsky has become an advocate against cyberbullying and public shaming and a contributing writer for Vanity Fair.
