Forty percent of Americans approve of the job President Donald Trump is doing in the White House, while 54% disapprove, a new Monmouth University poll reveals.
The numbers are a dip from last month’s poll, which showed 44% approved of the president’s job performance compared and 51% who disapproved. The pollster noted the current drop comes as Americans await the release of the report by special counsel Robert Mueller on Thursday.
Here is how the rest of the poll breaks down:
- 54% say Congress should move on to other issues now that the Mueller probe is completed. 39% say Congress should continue looking into remaining concerns related to that investigation.
- 60% say the Justice Department should provide the complete Mueller report to Congress, compared to 30% who say sensitive portions should be redacted.
- 26% say Trump being less conventional is good for the country. 46% say it is bad for the U.S.
The poll, conducted April 11-15, surveyed 801 adults. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
