Rep. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., a member of the Cherokee Nation, said he is disgusted by Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s efforts to prove she is part Native American.
His comments came Tuesday on Fox News' “Fox & Friends.”
Mullin said he is not offended by her claims, but said he finds them “extremely disappointing."
"Look, there was a 2014 study, scientific study, and it said the average European American walking around is .18 percent Native American," he said. "She is half of that. So, the idea that she continues to double down on this lie is the most disgusting thing to me.
“What she needs to do is come out and apologize to all of us.
“At this point, it is disgusting to me and the rest of the Native Americans – especially those of us inside the Cherokee Nation. We’re not trying to play politics here either. The facts are what they are.”
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump said Warren “is getting slammed” for releasing DNA test results showing she has some Native American ancestry.
