NASA is looking into allegations one of its astronauts committed identity theft while aboard the International Space Station, The New York Times reports.
Astronaut Anne McClain, admitted to accessing her estranged spouse's bank account, but said nothing improper had been done, and her spouse former Air Force intelligence officer Summer Worden, told investigators it appeared no funds had been taken.
Worden said she believed the move by McClain might have been part of an attempt to gain custody of her son. Wordon gave birth to the boy before the two were married. They filed for divorce in 2018.
McClain was scheduled to be part of NASA's first all-female spacewalk earlier this year, but it was scrubbed when it was discovered there weren't two spacesuits that would fit the two women.
The allegation against McClain is believed to be the first allegation of crime in space, the Times noted.
