The children's channel Nickelodeon is featuring a bi-racial same-sex married couple for the first time in its cartoon series, "The Loud House," Variety reports.

The couple, Harold and Howard McBride, are voiced by Wayne Brady and Michael McDonald, respectively; the episode shows the pair as they get their son Clyde ready for a sleepover with series star Lincoln Loud, Variety reports.

The couple's debut is Wednesday; an excerpt from the episode was posted to Twitter last week.

According to Vanity Fair, Nickelodeon had hinted at same-sex romance before — at the end of "Legend of Korra," a series that aired from 2012-14, when the female characters Korra and Asami appeared to be couple. The last episodes debuted online, according to Vanity Fair.

The Disney Channel introduced its first same-sex couple on "Good Luck Charlie" two years ago, Vanity Fair reports that in the same year, Cartoon Network aired its first gay characters.
